I have been working with and educating youth for over thirty years in informal settings, teen centers and weekend retreats. It wasn’t until fourteen years ago, when I took a few teens out on a mountain bike ride, that I saw how adventure activities force one to unplug and recharge. The shift from unhealthy behaviors was shockingly quick. Soon, parents started contacting me and expressed how mountain biking was positively changing their child.
The number of aspiring riders grew, but some couldn't afford bikes. I began to fundraise. Within a year, Geerz was created and became my full-time passion. Twelve years later we have over 450 weekly riders in fifteen locations/cities, with the help of amazing donors who give not only their financial support, but professional support and time.
There are kids out there waiting for the opportunity to join Geerz. They have the drive; they just need the equipment and funding. Please join us, by riding in or sponsoring this amazing ride, and help Geerz reach more youth.
