Geerz is an organisation that operates an incredibly innovative and effective therapeutic mountain biking programme, that is offered free of charge to hundreds of boys and girls in youth villages and special education programs throughout Israel. Mountain biking is used as a tool to help kids heal emotionally and develop psychologically, and their results are tremendous. As a parent and volunteer, I have personally witnessed the power of their programme, and as a therapist, I firmly believe that programs such as this are a deeply effective way of helping kids heal – sometimes, more so than therapy sessions.In the past year, Geerz has also begun offering an adapted version of its kids programme to veteran soldiers, many of whom suffer from PTSD following their combat experiences.
